I am contemplating a Royal Caribbean 14 night transatlantic westbound cruise beginning Sept. 4. A friend told me the weather is very unpredictable in this region and it could be a rough ride. I am not a seasoned cruiser. Does anyone have experience with this?

Welcome to cruise-chat.

All I can say is "it's the North Atlantic". It can be calm, choppy, or downright rough - often within the same day. September is prime hurricane season (although this year was calm) and that can be a huge factor.

Hi dulcimerdolly, welcome to Cruise-Chat. Dave summed it up, it's very unpredictable. The ships do their best to steer clear of any major storms, they all have stabilizers, but anything can happen at any moment. Best wishes!

dulcimer - Welcome to Cruise-Chat.com THE place to be when you're up "on the beach"and "tween cruises! I'd suggest you consider booking a cabin on a lower deck and located midshipas much as possible for a amoother ride.

Todays newer cruiseships with their stabilizers take the seas pretty well but the ocean is... the ocean!!! (It's really the motion of the ocean!) and eating the green apples, taking ginger pills and wearing sea bands usually resolves "Mal De Mer" (Seasickness)!!

Welcome aboard and don't worry too much about it!!! You'll have a great cruise!!

Bon Voyage,

BillyBuzzy
