It appears that the end of Hawaii cruises from the US mainland isn't to far away. From an abbreviated statement in
http://cruise-week.com/cruisenews.htm the Passenger Vessel Services Act looks to have been selectively modified to apply to Hawaii only. If the original proposed limitations are imposed then NCL will have a captive market.

"They've decided to limit enforcement of the Passenger Vessel Services Act to markets where there are large U.S.-flagged ships currently operating--and there's only one: Hawaii," one insider said.
