Help please on Miami disembark & transportation

There will be four of us ladies getting off the NCL Dawn in April, including my mother in her 80's. We need advice on the best way to get from the ship in Miami to our Ft. Lauderdale hotel. I can't think that a taxi would be able to take all of us and our cruise luggage. We won't know in advance exactly when we'll be getting off the ship, getting our bags, etc., so I can't reserve a limo or van in advance. This is only our second cruise so we are neophytes. Haven't been to this port before and don't know the layout.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

A possible solution to your dilemma. Purchase on the 'Dawn' during your cruise, one way bus passes for $15 each that will take you from the ship to Fort Lauderdale airport. From there. your hotel will probably be able to pick you up, most likely free of charge. Bobby

Thanks so much, Bobby, for responding. This would be a last resort. Of course we could take two taxis, but want to see if I can get some form of transportation that would take us all together. Maybe someone else has faced this situation?
Your suggestion has given me another idea, though. I'm wondering if it is possible to make arrangements for transportation through the cruise front desk, or even our concierge. Anyone know if they will help with this?

I would go ahead and reserve a limo or van ahead of time to pick you up later in the morning, say 10:30 or 11. Have a relaxing breakfast and then be one of the last ones off the ship. They call you off by the color of your baggage tags but have found that it doesn't really matter when you disembark. Both times I have disembarked off the Norway in Miami we've waited until the end as we'd have just ended up sitting for a long time at the airport.

Thanks, Capecodder. I think that is what I will do. I was advised on another board that if I reserve a limo for a general time, I can just call them as soon as we get our bags to let them know we are ready to go. Has anyone had a good/bad experience with a particular limo company?

BTW, I love Cape Cod but my husband doesn't like to go anywhere we have to wait in traffic. So we've only been there once in the last 10 years!
