I have 2 small children, 4 and 2, the only id i have for them is their passports.

Ok, I've seen a few posts where people don't take their passports off the ship for various reasons. Are their passports required for leaving or boarding the ship in the Bahamas? Would a copy of their passports work? Any suggestions?

It apparently depends on your nationality in some places. For U.S. citizens in The Bahamas, a Photo ID for those under 16 is not required to re-board the ship. All you need for the children is their cruise cards. For the adults, a photo ID (license) will do. You do not need to have U.S. passports with you while ashore.

They don't look for ID when you exit the ship, just when you return.

Sorry, I misunderstood, I thought he didn't want to take the passports.
