Hi everyone,

Being an keen cruiser myself, I'm currently looking to begin my final year university thesis and I am hoping to do this on the cruise industry and how it markets itself. This would focus on what type of people go cruising and their perceptions of the different cruise lines.

I have one problem though, I need access to people who go cruising!! I wanted to guage interest and see if there were people who would be willing to participate in a focus group (either in person or online...either a chat room or web chat). I would try to offer some form of compensation, such as an online voucher for a shop.

Just to guage opinion... is there anyone that would possibly think of doing that?

Many thanks!

Hi Markwit, welcome to Cruise-Chat. I'd be happy to help out, if I can. There were a few of us on board that did so for a lady in China. It was really fun, she had an account set up for us on WebCT. We answered her questions and she received her Phd. She sent me some beautiful picture post cards from China. It was exciting to receive a package from China in the mail. I saved the envelope and stamps as well as the post cards. One day I'd like to get there and see those pictures in person. So, if I can help, please feel free to PM me or post here.

Welcome Markwit! My wife and I would be happy to participate. We are relatively new cruisers- 2 so far- and spent time researching the lines we have cruised on before choosing.

Marwit, I will be glad to be of assistance to you. Ask your questions through this board and no compensation is necessary. I have been on 19 cruises thus far and a transatlantic coming up in April of 2008.

We would also be willing to help you here on the board. We have been on more than 50 different ships of 11 cruise lines, but, after all those cruises and the booze that goes with cruising (someone has to test those drinks) its hard to remember any of the cruises

I too would be happy to reply if you need someone relatively new to cruising. We're seniors having travelled relatively extensively over the years and just now have explored cruising as an easy way to just 'dabble' in tourism.

We have only two real cruises under our belt though in the late 60s 'cruised' to Australia from Vancouver as a cheaper means of transportation than flying.

I could offer a Canadian perspective.

Hi Markwit,
As you can see....several members have responded in a positive way to assist you. What are you actually studying at university ? Do you have a title for this thesis you are doing on the cruise industry ?
Are you still intending to start a focus group ?
