I have a strange way of looking at left and right, so you may have to spoon feed me your answer. If you're above the ship and looking down on it, the way you select your cabin from the diagrams, is the left side of the ship the port or the starboard?

I had thought the right side would be port but I read somewhere that the right side was starboard. So I'm wondering if it's right when standing in front looking at the ship or when looking down on it from above.

I've been embarrassed to ask this before.

If you're at the back of the ship looking towards the front, the port is on your left. I remember this as port and left have the same amount of letters in it. Just a little tip.

I never even considered looking at things from the rear of the ship. Thank you so much.
