Well 2 weeks until my family emigrate to the USA on the QM2 and we are so excited. I have read and heard so much about this ship I cannot wait. I have always been interested in liners and cruise ships...i love their history and how they are mad and generally everything about them. Is there anyone else out there who has a similiar interest or is it just me?

A long time ago, before 9/11, ships offered tours of the bridge, the engine room, the laundry room, the galleys, and all the places you wanted to see. It was so much fun to me, especially the bridge and engine room. It was fascinating to see the controls, and how much raw power is produced. I have watched many specials on television showing how different ships were built-fascinating!

I know you're going to have a wonderful voyage and a great new life in the states!

Thanks Penny. I love reading all the books I can on liners and what makes them tick so to speak, their history is very interesting. Their are some good videos on You Tube o the Queen Mary 2 which were very helpful to us, so at least we are well researched! Don't tell my wife but I think I will love the bookshop! I'll try ant you know how the trip went but the anticipation of it is fantastic!
