I am preparing for my upcoming cruise next month. And I am wondering how many shoes should I bring along?
I know I shouldn't bring too many, since they can be heavy in numbers. But I don't want to bring too few either.
I am a male in my 30s. But I wouldn't mind hearing from the ladies too, and how many shoes they bring along on their cruises.

I bring 3 pairs of shoes:
A pair of dress shoes for evening that are a neutral color, which will go with everything I bring for evening.
A pair of walking shoes/tennis shoes for daytime.
A pair of sandals or Tevas, depending on whether I have any water activities like kayaking planned.
My husband takes 3 pairs also, in similar categories.

Three pairs each for us, too.
For me:
Dress shoes - black pumps go with pretty much all of my formal wear
Walking shoes - slip-ons, that can double as deck shoes or can also be worn with capris. I usually wear these on shore excursions, also.
Running shoes - for my morning workouts
For him:
Dress shoes
Deck shoes
Sneakers, which he wears on shore excursions and during the daytime
When we went to Norway, I also brought a pair of boots as we were going to be doing some hiking. To save packing space, I wore these onto the plane...never mind that it was July.

Thank you everyone for your replies.
Yes, that sounds like me too. Except I bring one pair of black dress shoes; in addition to my brown shoes, my sneakers and Teva sandals.
Once again, thanks.

We did the same thing, when going to Alaska last year. We brought hiking boots and wore them onto the plane, along with our heavy winter coats -- in July. We were happy we had these things when hiking the Chilcoot Trail, up 600', in pouring rain!!

Actually, since I will be cruising on the Norwegian Pearl, maybe I should also bring my Bowling Shoes!

After packing way too many shoes on previous cruises, this is my take on it...
1 pair of tennis shoes to be worn while boarding.
1 pair of dress shoes (brown).
1 pair of "Reef" sandals. I prefer them over "Teva".
I use to take different colors of shoes and belts for the cruise thinking I had to look perfect. I gave that up. I'm on vacation.

You must have violated the three cardinal rules of packing for a cruise:
1. Pack
2. Open suitcase, remove 50% of packed items
3. NOW you're on vacation
