Hello all! I am looking for a comparison of HAL and Princess. The itineraries on HAL look nice and it's actually a couple of hundred dollars cheaper for a 7-day balcony to the eastern Caribbean. Are there any major differences as far as things to do, service, food, pools, excursions, stuff like that?
Lady, HAL is considered a "premium line" while Princess is considered a mass-market line. Both are great lines and they both have great ships. You might get an older crowd on HAL than you would on Princess, but that is always subjective.
To add to Tom's comments: I think you will find the food and service a little better on HAL (but that is to be expected on a premium line), more nightlife and better evening entertainment on Princess and better lecturers and enrichment programs on HAL.
There is a huge difference between ships within each fleet. If you identify which specific ships you are considering - we can provide a better comparison.
Okay, I'll go find which ships. My husband and I are in our 30s, but we like to talk to people, so younger isn't necessarily better (grin). We are interested in things like the spa, though, and maybe a casino and shows. Also, do you have set dining times on HAL?
I think you will find the shows much better on Princess and being that you are in your 30's - (having been on both lines) I think you might be more comfortable and have more in common with people on Princess.

I think you may be happier on Princess.
I have not personally been on HAL, but, know they do run an older crowd. Not that that is a bad thing. I believe the Princess shows, spas, entertainment overall is better.
