My wife an I have often talked about the fact that A cruise will cost us $500/day plus and we can sit at home on our patio, get in our hot tub, drink and go out for dinner a lot cheaper. But let us face it: this is not as romantic or relaxing. It is so nice to sit on the balcony, ocean view, have room service, read a book and drink our coffee, and watch the water go by. Go to dinner and then a show. Have a relaxing drink in a lounge. Be in 90 degree weather instead of sub zero in January. A nice break from reality. Yes the cruise lines are good at marketing and maybe people read more into it but overall we have been to some all inclusive resorts such as Sandals that cost us a lot more and did not deliver the same value. Sandals cost us $4500 and their premium drinks were nothing more than cheap local booze and beer. For the $1,000 difference we could have had a great bar tab with real premium drinks. Their shows were very poor and the food was not as good plus the service was very slow. As far as drinks; go wait in a line; and it was all domestic. There was no real whiskey, bourban, vodka, scotch, etc
