Okay gang, I have been talking with Cruise Fanatic (aka Jan) and it looks like we can narrow it down further to the Inspiration out of Tampa. Why? 1) It is a Thurs-Monday cruise therefore we might get more people willing to do it if they don't have to take off so much work. (And the same for taking kids out of school). 2) A lot of people seem to use South West airlines. They fly direct into TPA, where they don't fly into MIA but FLL, which would cost more to transport down to MIA. 3) The Inspiration is going through a refurbishment later this year so it would be nice and fresh for us if we cruise in January 2008.
Since the idea is also to raise funds for a charity - keep in mind the price will be increased to help raise funds. I suggest $20 because on a 4-day cruise that is what Carnival would match up to ($5 for each day).
This is a nice little cruise with 2 days at sea and just one port - Cozumel. Pricing looks good for the cruise and air is also good. Even from LAX to TPA, it is around $350 round trip with Delta and can be much less with Southwest.
I am also sorry; the vacation cycle at my job runs from March 25 to March 25; I am using my 20 vacation days on my cruises this month and in June; I will not have any more time off availabe until after March 25, 2008; and I have a cruise booked in early April.
I would really hate to miss it but I know accomodating everybody is impossible. My hope is maybe there are enough that can't travel that soon that it can be put off until later in the year.

Same with me, would love to do it but 1/08 is a little too soon for me. We dont have Southwest Airlines in Minnesota either. I would have to do something in 2009 as my vacations are plotted out for this year. We are thinking about another Alaska cruise. Sounds crazy, but I have no desire to go anywhere else, except the Panama Canal.
Like others, Jan of 08 will be too soon. Most of December is time off due to the holiday's and January is too soon to be taking more time off. Though the idea of the Thurs to Monday cruise is great. If it were pushed back into mid to late Feburary it would be better and still avoid the Spring break season.

This is a great site I would dearly love to come on this cruise and meet all the fab people who have corresponded with me since last September but unfortunately the distance is too great for 4 days. It takes over 24 hours of traveling just to get to LAX and then theres the extra distance to get to Tampa. Oh well! maybe some other time.
