Ive been on about 4 cruises(mexico/carib)on Carnival and on a small outdated NCL ship. Ive also been on an 'all inclusive' island vacation.
I myself find that my overall enjoyment of the cruise/vacation is directly proportional to the quality of the food(sad isnt it?).
My wife and I are considering another cruise possibly Alaskan. Question is is what line has the best food? We're willing to spend more than a Carnival cruise but cant do the high end lineshttp://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...icon_frown.gif
I can plod through a so-so breakfast and lunch but we really want the dinner to be a cut above. The last couple of cruises that we've been on the dinner had the menu and mere appearance of being great food but it was just show and not much substance.

Who has the great food? Everything else for us is just a tangent.

I find myself agreeing with Dave a lot on here... Celebrity would be #1 in my book among mainstream lines as well.

Food is a very subjective area. I've also found variation between food on the same line. Celebrity has the best reputation among the mainstream lines - yet we felt the food quality was very underwhelming on a 7-night Caribbean cruise we took on Infinity in 2006. However, the food on a 12-night European cruise on Century in 2007 was superb, perhaps even the best of all our cruises.

I will say that on both ships, the extra-surcharge restaurants were wonderful and consistent, and well worth the cost.

We enjoyed the food on Princess, too.

Oceania, hands down - but Celebrity's food is of course great for a mass-market line! http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...icon_smile.gif

The supper club on Carnival is well worth the extra money, food in there was excellent.

Well Maxtor, since Oceania does not cruise to Alaska and Carnival has only one ship doing one way cruises I think Celebrity would be a good choice and Lisa's option of looking at Princess would be a good chioce as well.
