YOUr phone may reach but it will be in rome mode, they have phones in your room for 7.95 a minute to call to the u.s!!!!

if you're from Britain (or anywhere in Europe) your phone won't work unless you have a tri-band phone.

If you have to call home during your cruise, you can of course carry a phone card and use public phones ashore when visiting ports of call. It's a lot cheaper than using the phones on the ship. The best way, for me anyway, is to use the internet room on board and communicate by e-mail. Cruiseman

If you use your cellular phone, please be discreet about it!

As a city-dweller, part of what I'm looking to escape from on my cruise is cell phones, not to mention the people who feel compelled to loudly discuss every detail of their lives.

I understand why people have cell phones (I have one), but I really hope the pool deck doesn't get added to the places where all you hear are loud, irritating ring-tones and boisterous, one-sided conversations.

For me, a large part of the appeal of a cruise is leaving the cell phone, pager, and laptop behind and just enjoying a week of zero responsibility. If you anticipate some potential for an emergency, the cruise lines can get a message to you anywhere in the world. I say, leave that phone behind and enjoy yourself!

One nice thing about cellphones, they don't work unless there is some sort of relay nearby. Out to sea - no relays! I have noticed people using them in port, though.

They wont work at Sea, Sometimes may work on the islands, (dont count on it too much). If you call from your cabin its very expensive almost $8. a min.
