We had something new happen on our last cruise. The night we left Cabo, around 1am we were awaken. There was lots of talking in the hall. When I looked out there was two security officers by a cabin a couple of doors down. They remained there the rest of the trip. When we reached Long Beach he was escorted off ship by two officers.
Wonder what he did, or should I say tried to do? Has anyone every seem this before?

That would either be crew who's been fired or guests that had mad a criminal offense.
Normally they would have stayed like this just to the next port, but that of course is decided between the captain, corp office and the local authorithies.. How much was left of your cruise after Cabo?
We saw something like that once on a Hawaii cruise on American Hawaii. There was a lot of arguing in the cabin next door to us. Then Security showed up, and planted a chair in the hallway outside of our little corridor. The ship, which had left one of the islands a couple of hours before, turned around and headed back to that island. When we got there, the guy next door was escorted off the ship, and we set off on our way again.
Turns out this guy had gotten drunk and punched one of the ship's officers, before returning to his room and fighting with his roommate.
Cabo was the last port we had, so our next stop was the end of the cruise. It happened about 7 or 8 hours after we left Cabo. The had two guards on the room, the door was left open, and most of the time there was a third guard in the room seated.

You see... that's what happens when you have an American registered ship. They just coddle the criminals. If the ship had been of foreign registry they would have just used him as an anchor at the next port.
I thought ships had brigs? If they did something so criminal as to warrant 3 security guards, I don't understand why they didn't lock him up? I can see them being confined to the cabin if they were going to be put off at the next port and no charges filed, but it sounds like this person did something well out of the norm.

They have, but to tell you the truth, they're not always "operational" as they are seldom used and can bed used to store other things, or have problems with the lights or plumbing. Some times it's more convenient to confine them to their cabin.
BTw, on my first contract on the Norway I lived next to the brig. And that one was in use a couple of times
It gave my wife an unsecure feeling. Strange how increased security will do that. It did not bother me. I have scanned the local paper for any hint of what happen but never saw anything.
I too was wondering why they just did not use the brig.
