Travel insurance

Hi, I took Cruise Fanatic advise and decided to buy Travel insurance. I booked a cruise online with Royal caribbean. Should I buy the insurance online or should I go to a travel agent? I haven't booked my flight yet. Should I book the flight on my own or with a agent. We're flying in a day before the cruise, so which type or policy is the best for us? Thank you.

Some Travel Agency's won't sell you insurance if you didn't buy the product you are insuring through them. Since you haven't bought the air yet you might be able to get the air through the Travel Agent and get insurance from them to cover both your cruise and the air. The type of insurance you want is a policy that covers you "pre" (before you sail) and during your vacation. Travel Guard insurance has a policy called "Protect Assist" which would meet this requirement.

I would be careful here and read the really small print for what they are actually insuring you for.

We're leaving for Mariner of the sea on December 10,when should we buy the travel protection insurance? Has anybody purchased TripAssist Travel Care from AAA? This is our first cruise, we don't know anything about this stuff yet.Please help!

The AAA travel insurance must be bought within 7 days of your deposit in order to cover pre-existing conditions. You can still purchase it past the 7 days, but it won't cover the pre-existing. Some other insurance companies give you up to 14days from deposit to cover pre-existing and don't cover pre-existing if over 14 days.

Buying the insurance within the existing condition waiver period is always best. This is usually a few days to two weeks after you booked the cruise. If this time period has already passed, then you can buy insurance anytime now.

Dave and Cruise Fanatics, thank you so much for the speedy replies. From the brochure AAA gave me, it says " Purchase within 14 days of your initial trip deposit to be eligible for supplier default coverge and a waiver for pre-existing conditions." I booked the cruise on August 29 and deposit that same day. Am I still ok?

Your AAA may be different. Our's is 7 day. If your brochure they gave you says 14 days then yes, you can still get it.

Hi, I bought travel insurance from Travel guard this morning( protect assist ). I should have asked you guys sooner because Travel Insure has a much better policy but it only has a 10 day policy. Just wanted to thank everyone so much for all your help. Almost everything is set up now, we just need to get our transportation squared away. Still don't know which taxi/towncar company is the best though.
