i know i asked this question before, but i am now extremely concerned about me and my husband on a RCCL cruise next month...we are both overweight, (he is 360 pounds) and we just got refused for the bell helmet excursion. now i am waiting to hear if we can snorkel. now..i am concerned about the safety training at the beginning of the cruise, will the life jacket fit him??!!! someone, please...calm me down! i spent $2000 on this cruise and hate feeling this way.
thanks, clo

Dear Clo,
I cannot believe you would be the first pax with these special needs. I am willing to bet that the crew has accomodated this type of issue and all will be just fine! A heads-up to your customer service agent might be wise, I am not sure how RCCL operates, but I have found CCL to always facilitate my needs. I am expecting the same will be true for you!! Let us know!
My brother-in-law was about the same size and he wore his life vest with no trouble that I can recall.
You guys won't be the only heavy people to cruise. The last time we were on RC, there were some heavy women dancing by the pool. I'm overweight and self conscious, but they were a lot bigger than I am and they were having a blast! I really admired them. No one made fun of them, and one of them won a dance competition judged by the folks around the pool.
I'm a worrier like you so I relate. You're going to have the time of your life! If all you do is sit on the ship and watch the sun set, eat lovely meals, fall asleep to the rocking of the ship, you will have had a wonderful vacation. There is nothing quite like it.
I can't see any problem with snorkeling. You wear a lightweight life vest, but I'm almost certain it's adjustable to fit most people. Its purpose is to let you hang in the water instead of treading the whole time. You wear a mask, fins and a snorkle and that's it. You might want to visit a shop near home and test drive their equipment. If the vest is a problem, perhaps you could buy one.
I saw the title of this thread and though 'yeah, me too!', Lifevest should be fine, hubby and I are on the larger size and no problems at all, in fact I found them a bit big. With regards to snokelling, above post is right, size should have no bearing whatsoever and you should be fine.
Please bear in mind that cruisers come in all shapes and sizes and no one judges or worries whilst on ship as you all have a common interest, having a fantastic cruise. I always worry, i think thats natural for a woman whatever she looks like, but have always felt really comfortable and welcomed on board.
Relax and enjoy yourselves, you will easily find suitable excursions, and enjoy them even more, and wonder what you were worrying about in the first place!
you are all so kind.
thanks very much, i feel much better now.
this is our first cruise, and i'm surprising my hubby, he has got no idea we are doing a cruise.
