Hi all. im brand new to the forum. Just curious how i would go about getting a gig on a cruise ship as a dj. I have tons of exp., ref, etc. I have sent things through the websites to the various cruise lines as well. Just curious what the inside track is.

Thx

Lewis

Lewis,

Welcome to cruise-chat. Unfortunately you will not find much in the way of advice or assistance here. This board is really all about the passengers and not about those who work on the ships, although we do have a couple crew members who check in once in a while.

All I can suggest is going to the cruise line websites and finding their links to employment opportunities. I know Royal Caribbean has an employment link and I assume the others do too.

Best wishes,

Hi lewis, welcome to Cruise-Chat. As Dave said, this is mainly for passengers not employees. We wish you luck in your quest. Just remember, life on board is not a piece of cake unless you're higher up in the ranks. Your hours are long, the pay isn't very good, but what a fantastic experience. Good luck!

Welcome aboard Lewis!

As Dave and Penny noted, we don't have many crew members here. I am not directing you to another site, just giving you a hint that many crew forums are out there. You just have to search for them. Carnival is hiring for some entertainment positions, I didn't see DJ listed though. Ship's life isn't all that you may think it is.

Good Luck!

Dwayne

thanx guys. just having a really hard time coming accross proper info.

There are several crew member groups on one of the major social networking sites (starts with a "f"). Often times someone already doing the job is the best source of information. We only have one member that is a DJ on a ship, (to my knowledge) if he still is and rarely posts. Again, as has been said this site is overwhelmingly made up of fellow cruisers with very few crew members. I wish you good luck with this.

Dwayne
