Passport worries

Has anyone experianced a passport being lost in the mail? i am worried that my passport has been lost I went to the website and it says the passport should be to me on around 2/27/2007 and I haven't recieved it yet and I can't speak to anyone only automated service, So i was just wondering you know the BC and everything is in with the passport.

Just seen in the paper that passports are taking about 2 weeks longer to get out.
Give it 1 more week.

I applied for my passport in mid January. I was told it would take 6 weeks. I had no reason to question it at the time, for my husband and my daughter received their passport in the 6 week period. When I checked on line at the 6 week mark, it stated that it should arrive on/about 3/14. The next time I checked, it stated 3/17. The next was 3/21. I don't want to check again. Each time I do, the date is moved back. I am getting anxious about this. I just wish it would arrive soon!

I did get my passport however my sister hasn't gotten hers because of a delayed birth certificate they are really giving her a hard time and NO ONE is answering the phone at the passport offices.

I just went through the passport experience. I did expidited serice though and recived mine back in 4 weeks. When I was at the post office the day I was applying and the gentelman noticed my cruise date he suggested the expidited service due to what he said were 8 to 12 week delays. He said the delays are getting longer and longer due to the fact that passports are now needed on all airline flights thus as the travel season fast approaches there is a huge backlog.

I would just as a backup go and get a new Birth Certificate. I just went to the place of birth and to the town hall and asked the records clerk for a copy. They printed it out and sent me three doors down to the notery and had it noterized. Might be a good idea if your getting close.

anyone know if its a must to have a passport right now to cruise in July 2007. I was wondering how long does it take, and where do i go and get one.
