I am attempting to surprise hubby with a cruyise for our 10th anniversary. due to availability of babysitters, we can go in September for 3 or 4 nights, preferably over a weekend. We live in the province of Quebec, so would like to be able to go from a port that won't cost a limb or two to fly to!! Cape Canaveral has been suggested by a friend.
If we chose Cape Canaveral, there are two cruises that could be suitable. One on Carnivals Sensation and another on Royal Carribbeans Sovereign of the Seas.
Hum,,, well, personally for such a short cruise, I would let the itinerary be my first priority, then cost. A 3-4 night cruise will already be cheaper, so I would be most interested in itinerary. This is weird, cause just a little while ago, I was looking at a 4 night bahamas cruise to surprise my husband in dec for his birthday. I had no idea where Port Canaveral Port was, so I went to their website. It seems to me the biggest airport closest to them is Orlando, a 45 minute drive. I immediately thought about shuttle/taxi fees. I would compare airfare between miami also, to cruise out of. I would definately check with a travel agent, to see what they have to say. Well, good luck, Hopefully, other people will have suggestions. I just thought I would give my ideas. Lil' Lori
Becky. When I was on the PortCanaveral.org website,I read about the Melbourne airport, click on "cruise", then click on the "directions" / "how to get here" tab. Melbourne is listed as a close airport. Hope this helps. Lil' Lori
Airport code for Melbourne, FL is MLB. Flights usually are limited into there. A three night cruise will only go to Nassau, Bahamas. A 4nt cruise will go to Nassau, & Freeport, Or to Key West, & Cozumel, Mexico (Depending what port you sail out of) Carnival's Celebration is a smaller, older ship sailing out of Jacksonville, Fl. That might be another option for you.
Don't forget Galveston, Texas. Carnival has a four night to Cozumel, Mexico, and there is a one-day sale today 4-19-06 only. $100 shipboard credit per room! Rooms starting around $329 pp. plus air cost. Remember though, flying into Houston is another 1 hr to Galveston, so you might need to go a day early. Desisions, decisions Good luck.
There have been some problems with Sensation lately; you may want to stick with RCCL. Other good suggestions here too.
As always, I suggest you talk with a cruise-oriented travel agent in your area; they may have some other good ideas and access to information which will help you narrow down your choices.
