Thanks fredo! I am putting some bratwurst in beer to soak right now. I have my potatos cooked for the potato salad too. I am thinking of getting some baby backs or angus burgers as well. I should not shop when I am hungry though.
I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Independence Day !
Probably some dry-aged ribeye steaks for us and corn-on-the-cob, and a mix of potatoes and root veg that I toss with olive oil, garlic, and rosemary and then wrap in foil and toss in the oven.
And for those wanting to hear the explanation of the Pledge Of Allegience, here is the 1969 audio from Red Skelton, who was a great American and humanitarian.
Still dont know what we are doing yet. Mike has to work but I don't. A BBQ in the evening would be fun. Im ready to go to IslandCruz's house. Sounds like good food there, and also at Dave's. Thanks for the wishes Fredo, GOD BLESS AMERICA! Let all remember to pray for our family and loved ones, even if we don't know anyone over there, in Iraq and Afghanistan and all over the world who continue to fight to keep us free!
Very limited fireworks in Alabama this year. The drought is classified as "exceptional" and the Governor has banned many types of fireworks, and many cities have curtailed the official fireworks displays. No aerial stuff is allowed for sale to the public, so we'll make do with ground based stuff at the house. And being a responsible citizen, I'll have a charged water hose at the ready just in case.
Growing up in Columbia County, NY, it was always a source of pride that the Town Of Livingston and Livingston Manor, home of Philip Livingston, was just a few miles down the road. At the time of the signing, Columbia County didn't exist and was part of the larger Dutchess County and the Livingston family owned just about the whole west bank of the Hudson River!
And about just as many miles to the north of our house was Kinderhook and the home of President Martin Van Buren. It was a great place for a history nut to be raised.
