Insurance for Cruises

Does anyone have advice about whether to purchase insurance in case our cruise is cancelled? Our main concern is that due to war or a Code Red the government says ships can't sail. We are driving to Tampa to sail on Holland America's Veendam on Feb. 22nd. We are not flying so our concern is not about airline transportation. We have not booked a cruise before so don't know if the extra cost is worthwhile in general or if all this worrying is worth it anyway

I could be wrong, but I don't think you can buy insurance at such a late date. I doubt that ships wouldn't be allowed to sail. We ALWAYS get insurance, but it must be bought within a certain time frame of when you purchased your tickets. It's mainly purchased for health reasons, or should there be a death in the family. Just go and have fun, and forget what's happening in the rest of the world.
