Another Flight Increase for 2 nd Bag

We just flew on Southwest. We only had one checked bag each, did not want to pay extra. To our surprise Southwst does not charge for a 2nd bag.
So I guess if they double it, it wouldn't matter. LOL

I love this excerpt: "...if a customer has an extra piece of baggage that goes over the weight limit and the size limit, the passenger will be charged three times — once for the extra bag, once for going over the size limit and once for going over the weight limit."

It is soon going to be cheaper to just buy new clothes at your destination instead of packing, and donating them to a charity before you leave. At least you'd get a tax deduction.

But those flying first class, business, or medallion members can still take three bags free! I'm silver elite with Northwest which code shares with Delta. But three bags is excessive!

I did the math, and a second bag that is over 50 pounds and over the size limits will have a $315 fee.

I agree that three bags per person is a lot. We pack way too much stuff for a 7-night cruise and usually have just one piece each - although they are right up at the limits for weight and size.

It might soon be cheaper to use the companies that ship luggage ahead of time. There have been several times I have taken older clothes with me to wear one last time, then leave them. That way I lighten my return load, or have room to buy something new and unique like the nice denim jacket I bought in Denmark one year. I have been told any clothes left are given to good causes.

That's an excellent point, Jan; the "Princess Luggage Valet" that starts at $90 each way from home to cabin is starting to look pretty good.
