Has anyone had any experience with the TA's travel insurance versus the Cruise Line. Do you think one is better than the other? The coverage seems to be about the same, price is a little different, but am wondering about ease of making claims. Thanks for any help!

go to insuremytrip.com for price and coverage comparisons with anumber of different companies. You put in your dates of departure and length of trip, ages, and you get an instant quote with a detailed list of what is covered. Also, Tom Ogg has a great article on this website about travel insurance. I purchased my policy through the insuremytrip website, and paid perhaps 60% of what the same coverage would have cost through the cruise line. I assume when you refer to insurance through your TA, you are referring to the cruieline's policy.

Insurance:
As I have noted in a number of my mega-reviews, I buy insurance from an independant provider.
In this way I can cover pre and post cruise trips, as well as non-cruise line sanctioned shore excursions.
I have used a company called CSA Travel Protection out of San Diego. It was recommended by my TA. We have submitted one small claim for baggage delay and were paid promptly and without hassle.
It can be purchased online and its rates compare favorably with the company recommended by Tom Ogg on this site.
I do not buy for the absolute full cost of the trip since it is unlikely that this would be needed.
