On our second cruise almost three years ago (Conquest) my wife and I went dancing on our first night. I have two left feet, BUT had spent 8 weeks on dance lessons without my wife's knowledge. I pulled her onto the dance floor. She (who still does ballet and dance) expected my usual slow dancing hug or goofy 70's fast dancing freestyle). I grabbed her and started doing the two step. She gave me the strangest look. Then on the next song, the waltz. She was blown away, and asked me what I had been doing on those later-than-usual Wednesday nights. I just told her I was trying to learn to sweep her off her feet........without causing any bruises.

lostcajun,

what a wonderful surprise for your wife.
I wish more men would do that to surprise their wifes.
I like to dance and my husband, as many other husbands, doesn´t. So I´m always jaloers about the dancing couples, having a wonderful time on the dancefloor.

Best wishes for you and your wife. Wow.

Marita

An interesting twist to the story. A few months later a movie came out entitled Shall We Dance, in which Richard Gere takes dance lessons without his wife's knowledge, in order to surprise her. It was kind of nice to hear my wife say, "Hey, looks like Richard Gere is following your example..."

Well I just got home from a cruise yesterday with 3 siblings and my best friend from high school and I now have new best memories to add....
The look on my sisters face who doesn't drink when the waiter told her she could take her glass of champagne with her out of the dining room. She poured the champagne in another glass and started out with the glass. We all nearly died laughing, as did she! We would go to the dining room and bring her silverware to go with it. (We left it on the ship though)
Playing The Quest with close friends as a close friend bared his chest and put on his wife
s bra to get us points!
Interupting our Head Waiter to tell him I had been to the Phillipines and when I did he forgot his memorized lines for introducing himself on his first night on the job. He busted out laughing and turned red and just stood there with his hand over his mouth.(for nearly 5-10 min) I made an instant friend and he called me by name the whole trip.

Cajun, I *love* your story! I wish I'd seen the expression on your wife's face when she realized she was dancing with Arthur Murray personified!

Actually, I wasn't that much better at dancing, but we could dance together holding each other sharing the same steps (two step, waltz, jitter bug), and that was the best part.

Hello,

After 12 cruises and all of them very enjoyable I have two stories that I will share with you.

We went on a 7 day cruise to Mexico when my children were 12 (daughter) and 7 (son)respectively. We were at sea on a sparkling day and I was out on deck in a windswept place trying to read. My liitle guy found me and informed me that ice cream was available. Sure, I replied., and would he be kind enough to go get some and bring one back to me. When he returned with the ice cream cone and just as he was handing it to me, a gust of wind literally knocked the ice cream onto his chest. He was wearing his swimming trucks but no shirt, so the cool ice cream met his skin. Now, you probably think that a 7 year old would be heartbroken but no, he began laughing and couldn't stop. I cleaned him up a little bit and we went to get some more.

We went on another cruise to Mexico and I was alone out on deck about 6:00PM on a December day, standing in the very front of the ship. Over my right shoulder there was a full moon and the most spectacular moonbean one can imagine, and off to my left the sun was setting in the Pacific, with a unbelievable meeting of sky and ocean. One way was the moonbean, the other was a setting sun.

Hope you all have more great memories of cruises.
