Just a reminder to those with future reservations...
I check once a month for my particular cruise/room category. The price has fluctuated up to $200 more per person since we originally booked (one year in advance). Now we are inside of 4 months to go and I see the price is now $50 less than when we booked! I called RCCL and he said...NO PROBLEM! (My two favorite words) He is emailing me the confirmation now with the total of $100 off! Is it a great day or what?
Great advice cousins and happy to hear it was no problem. They are the best in the industry at making such adjustments, even inside penalty. Kudos to RCI, Celeb and Carnival for taking the lead in customer service in this area. Hope the others follow suit at some point.
Thanks Neil...it made my day! I'm hoping there will be another dip in price as it nears the cruise. If we have to pay the balance by July 20th and we do does the "penalty phase" start after that date? If the cruise price dips after July 20th do you think we could still ask for the lower price?
Yep, with RCI they have been lowering rates even after penalty phase which begins at your final payment due date. Also a good idea to get you insurance by that date, many policies exempt pre-existing coverage after that date. Also they more carefully scrutinize claims if you purchase after due date.
I'll have to ask my husband about the ins. thing...he's not big on ins.
If the rates go down even after we pay in July, you think we can still get the lower price from RCI, right?
Yes Carnival definately is very good about dropping their prices and giving you a better price. I know our first cruise we went on ended up being cheaper later on and they gave us our money back.
