With regard to the topic of this post. I usually start packing a few days before the cruise. However, I start preparing and purchasing items to be packed for my cruise months in advance. When I see something in a store that would be usefull to take on my cruise, I purchase it. Then I place it in a large plastic bin under my bed. As the days go on I start making name labels/tags for the luggage. These tags will have my name, contact info, ship name and cabin number listed. Eventually these tags will end up in the plastic bin. Also I assemble toiletry items which will be placed in this bin. The same goes for miscellaneous matierials: reading matierials, writing matierials, medicines, a fully charged and ready digital camera and MP3, the extension chord and multistrip outlet, etc. etc.

Then just about a few days before the sail date, I pull this very full bin out from under my bed and start packing.

I actually pack my suitcase at the last minute but I do start organizing my stuff a month or two before. Most of my travel accessories are still in my suitcase from last trip so I check them early and shop for stuff that I might need to replenish. Of course we tend book a cruise only two months or less before it goes, so I don't have extra time to prepare.

I start packing about a month before. It leaves time to replace clothing which no longer seems to fit after the previous cruise. Also we always seem to be cruising at different times of the year in varying locations. I used to leave packing to the last minute but I always used to forget essential items. The next cruise is Grand Princess from Quebec on 18th October. I may have to start earlier to find my winter clothing!

Frase, Downy Wrinkle Reducer, you can purchase it where you purchase laundry detergent in any discount store or grocery store.

Hey, esrosa. WE are on that cruise, too. Take lots of layers for that cruise. We will likely experience the full range of temperature changes from cold and rainy to hot and sunny.

Thanks Jill SC
We have just been looking at the predicted temperatures in Canada. Cold!!
We live in the south of Spain (hot and sunny most of the year). We used to live in the North of Scotland so we are trying hard to remember what cold and rain felt like. Really looking forward to the cruise as it will be a new area for us. Maybe we will bump into you.

I start my "dry run" packing about 10 days before. This dry run always has at least three times the clothes I need, so I subsequently make at least two more tries to eliminate and get things to a reasonable level that fits in one suitcase. My final packing is about two days precruise.

Oh if you only knew about my mother, the wonderfully fussy tanyababanya. Our next cruise isn't until Spring '09 but that never stops her. She's already begun shopping. Just yesterday, she surprises me with two of the cutest swimsuits I have seen in my life...only to be told "you have to wait. They're for the cruise. Don't gain weight either." =[ Talk about double whammy. Hahaha.

Is that pronounced "TAHNya baBAHNya" or "TANya baBANya"?
