The last time we cruised we got paper tickets in the mail. That was fine. But I was digging through my current cruise reservation a minute ago and noticed I have the option of asking for electronic tickets and printing them out myself. What is the advantage of doing the electronic tickets? Do they come earlier? Do you get a discount?
No, no discount. The advantage is you can print them out as soon as they become available and don't have to worry about lost/stolen/dalayed/misplaced mail.
Princess still sends a pre-cruise package with luggage tags, shore excursion book and Cruise Answer Book. From other posts, I gather that on other lines you get your tags at the pier when you arrive.
I opted for electronic tickets the first time for my pending Elation Cruise.
The Luggage tag will be on page 10 of the the PDF File that is generated, You fold the page into a narrow strip lengthwise and then fold it in half. You will need to tape/glue/staple the end - You get a luggage take like the ones the airlines now use!
we get our documents emailed also-i kinda like this,it helps us in organizing our documents,so we are not concerned about them getting lost in the mail,we obtain more luggage tags at the ship terminal the day we sail.............because one tag that they send just dont cut it.......lol
I tend to find the E Tix more convienient but it does throw the folks at the pier off a little - I guess they were just not soo common place in Feb when had them for our Carnival cruise out of Galveston....
The little lady checking doc before you are allowed into the Pier building kept asking for "the little blue booklet dear..." I 'm sorry madam but we foreigners no longer get them "little blue booklets"
It took a while and a few blank stares before her buddy next door poped her head over and said "DarliŽn those are those new fangled tickets they told us about at the last meeting"
That did it and off we were......
The E-tickets are becoming the way of the future, just like airline tickets...NCL and Princess have gone strictly E-docs now, and it wont be long before ALL the cruiselines will go the same way. I guess we are defintely living in the future times of the computer age.
The only issue I have with the e-tickets is the luggage tags. (And the excitement of see the tickets in the mail box, but I guess I could adjust to that) Luggage tags that you print copies of would NEVER last through the airlines without getting torn off the suitcases. So you end up getting real tags at the pier and standing there and re-doing them all. If they sent a see of tags in the mail then the other documents being electronic would be fine with me.
