Question for the experienced!

First of all... love the site!

Here is my situation:

There are either 3 or 5 of us wanting to go on this cruise. It is either going to be 2 couples and one single, or one couple and one single. What's the best way to avoid that single person having to pay 200% for single occupancy?

Is there a cruise line that has a package with 2 or 3 bedrooms that all share one balcony and one bathroom?

I've looked at some at some of the large suit options, and the all seem to add up to even more each of us getting our own inside staterooms.

Any suggestions? Cost is our biggest factor.

There are some lines that don't charge 200% for a single. HAL charged me 150% when I sailed with them as a single and Carnival was about the same. There are rooms that sleep 3 that are not suites. If you have a travel agent that specializes in cruises, they can call around and get you the best prices. They are invaluable.

Typically opting for a large suite is going to cost you more than the individual rooms. You are not merely paying for more bedrooms in a suite, you are also paying for upgraded ammenities and services as well. This is a situation where the services of an experienced travel agent are invaluable. Different cruise lines have different price policies regarding solo travel. Your best bet for low cost single is going to be Carnival in a category 1A for the single. They are the lowest caost cabins and are typically 150% but on some sailings off season, they will be even more attractive in cost for single. Also since Carnival is typically lower cost to begin with on many sailing you should come out well for everyone in your group.
