I just heard that the ship I sailed on in November - the Regal Princess - has been sold and will be no more.
This is the third ship that has bit the dust after we sailed on it. Anyone remember two Costa Line ships - the Boheme and the Carla C? Gone...yup, we sailed on them.
Just got our travel papers for Brilliance of the Seas. Anyone trying to sail on every NCL ship should probably book the BOS soon if they have not already sailed on it
How about the old Viking Serenede in RCCL's fleet. Man, she was old, but the crew made her one of the most fun ships I've been on! Three times, in fact.
I highly doubt that. This honor belongs to one of my aunts. Every ship she ever sailed eventually sank. She also believes she started the NYC blackout of 1965 when she plugged in an old appliance.
You mentioned Costa -- have you every been on Federico C? I knew her as SeaBreeze, and she is my favorite ship of all time. May she rest in peace.
SailorJack; your information may be more current than mine, but the last I read was Regal Princess was being transferred to P&O Australia in September. So yes, no more Regal Princess--but not the end of the line for a wonderfully unique ship. And her sister, Crown Princess, is still sailing for P&O in Europe.
Lisa,I was going to use the word jinx, but I was afraid that RCL would then ban me from their ships....much as Costa has done.
I never had a chance at the Federico C.
Also, contrary to some spurious comments attributed to "highly placed senior executives from Costa Cruise Lines", I did not sail on the Luisitania, the Edmund Fitzgerald, or the Titanic.
F-mattox - that is what is happening. Three months after sailing on the Regal, Princess is washing their hands of it and selling it - to be summarily renamed. I only hope that the same fate ultimately befell the Boheme and the Carla C. and that they are not now forming the basis for artifical reefs off the coast of Belize.
It is depressing to think that after the SailorJacks have sailed on a ship that they are summarily disposed of and renamed like someone in the protected witness program!
I did the Skyward, Seaward, and Starward. Plus the Carla C and the Daphne. I can't remember the Carnival ship that I sailed on that went bye, bye. Plus sailed on the Sun Viking. Maybe I'm the jinx.
My list of "ships from the past" is also growing. In addition to my beloved SeaBreeze, I've also lost my OceanBreeze. Others that are still sailing, but under different names, are Atlantic (at least I think she's still sailing, for MSC), Windward, Leeward, Seaward, and fairly soon, Zenith. Then, somewhere in the middle is my other beloved, SS Norway.
