Hello Friends!

We are cruising in a few days and it looks like there "might" be a tropical depression in the area. It is so hard to predict if a storm will be nearby I know... but I thought I might be prepared with some motion sickness rememdies just in case.

I have heard of Ginger, Dramamine, Bromine, Magnetic bracelets, Motion Eze.... Any opinions about these remedies or others you have tried???

Thank you in advance for your advice!!!

Just remember, bromine is very good for sanitizing your swimming pool but it really shouldn't be ingested. You were talking about bonine. Don't sweat if you forget to bring motion sickness medication. Most ship's infirmaries dispense bonine or equivalent medicine upon request for free. Heck, if your seasick, you can't spend money in the bars and casino. They want you well!!

B.L., ginger works wonders. You can find it at grocery chains such as Whole Foods and Trader Joe's. Also, asian grocery stores and any natural food store.
I buy "Hokan crystallized ginger sliced".

Ginger, not Mary Ann. It is proven to be the best. Puking over the side also helps...
just a little.

On second thought, that might not be such a good idea depending where you are and what is below you. Just go for the ginger.

about three or four hours before the cruise I have a bowl of 15 to 20 prunes....I was given this advice by a fortune teller before I went on my first cruise.....and I have never had a problem with motion sickness
sometimes its nice to have them with hot custard, mind you I've only been on four cruises so far but it seem to work for me

I've read where some posters suggested Green Apples, which I may try on my next cruise.

Jack, at least you know you'll have "smooth sailing".

simphhcc, green apples also work and are plentiful on the ship. No need to carry them on board.

Thanks for the advice.... bonine, not bromine.... got it.

I picked up some wristbands today from walgreens for motion sickness. We'll see.

If anyone is on Freedom of the Seas and happens to spy a couple walking around with wristbands, magnetic bracelets, and patches under our ears, popping ginger, bonine, prunes and green apples... well you will know it is us!

p.s. We will definitely be the ones hanging over the side after ingesting all of this!
