I am wanting to check out price/availability on a flight.

I had read about Farecast.com and went in to check it out. When I first opened it up, I seen different colors saying Up/Down. When the website brought up the information I was looking for, I had NO clue whether to get it or not. How do you know whether it is a good price or not? In the area where it gave the prices there was something in red, but I had no clue if that meant anything or not?

brneyes- I have no knowledge of the website you are discussing. But, on your question about wether or not you are looking at a good deal... I mentally track cruise prices from the sale email flyers I see from RCCL and CCL and NCL, so I can pretty much tell when I'm looking at a good deal. Same goes for airfare. I book enough flights that I know what a good price is or what a typical price is. If you are using that sight as your only basis for what fares are doing, I'm not sure you are seeing the whole picture.

I agree with Cruise Fanatic as usual. A couple of site I use regularly for my own flights are sidestep.com and kayak.com

There are many other good ones, I just find these two quick and easy. For some airlines these type of sources don't pull the flights with their search and you have to do a seperate search. One is Southwest airlines. Tou have to go to southwest.com to pull these fares.

Cheers, Neil

hey brneyes,

While i am not a user of farecast, i checked it out based on your post, and on the first page it gives an explanation of what the colors meant. While I can't be sure of what you are talking about because I can't see what you are directly looking at, based off your description, if the fare is in red it is a good buy, as farecast sees the fare as probably going up from here on out....hope this helps!
