Hello everyone. FYI- There is an article on CNN website (08/19/05) under the travel section. They talk about the megaship, and the problems some ports are having. They also say that Carnival is "kicking around the idea", regarding building a large ship to take the
"largest ship in the world" title from the Freedom of the Seas. Anyone have any other info on this? This could get interesting!! Lil' Lori

Carnival indeed plans to build the world's largest cruise ship (once again). The project is nicknamed "Project Pinnacle" and - according to sources close to Carnival and Fincantieri shipyard - calls for a 210,000 gt ship, 380 meters (approx. 1,245 ft.) in length and with a total capacity of up to 8,000 people, including crew.

Carnival wants to order "the sooner the better", but Carnvial Vice Chairman Howard Frank said during "Carnival Liberty's" pre-inaugural cruise that Carnival was hoping for a better EUR - US$ exchange rate before placing the order.

Raoul, thanks for the info. Do you think a ship that big can still fit into some ports? Would it mostly sit out in the water, and the passengers would be tendered into port. What is your opinion? Thanks, Lil' Lori
