OK, I know I'm being a big baby, but I've been checking the weather and it looks like it's going to rain when we're in St. Thomas! And I was extra excited since we have 10 hours there. And we're planning to go snorkeling there and we've never been snorkeling. Waaa! What will we do???? I wanted to see the island, go up on the little tram cars to paradise point, enjoy a banana daiquiri while enjoying the beautiful view - that will probably be obstructed by rain!!!! Someone reassure me that this is not going to ruin our trip!!!!
Don't worry....the same weather people cannot accurately forecast what goes on here. What makes you think they know what will happen there? My experience with rain at the islands is the fronts pass thru rather quickly, unless of course you are in the middle of a hurricane or tropical storm.

Thanks, tn - that makes me feel a little better. weather.com says it's going to rain that whole day - I PRAY that's not the case. But I haven't seen anything about a hurricane or tropical storm, so I hope that will make a difference!
Hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised and dry! If it did rain all day, just enjoy the ship and then you have an excuse to cruise back there again!

I tend to agree with tncruiseman. Rain storm fronts seem to pass through quickly on the islands. If you do get rained out, go to a restaurant/bar, relax, have a drink and some good local food. Who says you can't snorkel in 85 degree weather while it's raining (as long as there's no thunder and lightening, of course?)
If weather.com is anything like our local meteorologists, it will be sunny and beautiful that day. Look on the bright side -- no pun intended.
A'ndrea
Another way to look at it....so what if it rains? We had a gully washer when we were in Cozumel a few years ago and we still had a blast! Andrealovescruising you are so right about snorkeling in the rain; you're in the water! You're already wet!
Oh, I don't mind snorkeling in the rain at all - reminds me of the time when my grandmother came running out while we were all in the ocean and it started raining, and she yelled, "Hurry! Get out of the water! You're going to get wet!" ROFL!
Anyway, what I'm worried about is that they will cancel our excursion. It's booked through Carnival. :-(
GC and A'ndrea, that is pretty funny about the rain snorkeling. I had rain last October on Cozumel too and still had a great time as well.
musigal, they don't usually cancel shore excursion just because of rain, it usually is because of wind and rough seas. I agree with TN, it is hard to predict the weather down there. I also started a sunny day on St.Lucia once, then it turned dark and a good storm came, then a half hour later was sunny again. Just saying to keep the faith
Well, I live in Florida and we are quite familiar with the afternoon thunderstorms that blow up out of nowhere and then pass. I actually don't mind those at all! I'm just so afraid it's going to rain THE WHOLE DAY. That would make for some really crappy pictures from the top of the mountain! Praying for a sunny day!
