it seems like all we hear is hard times for everyone these days. I usually cruise in Feb and Sept. We could not do the Feb cruise because of plans that could not be changed. Now ready to book the Sept cruise but I am hesitant because of the economy. We have not been hurt to much at our house...yet, but that could change.
So I am going to hold off on booking the Sept cruise for a while. And I hate it... I enjoy the planning almost,ALMOST but not quite as much as the cruise.
what is everyone elses thinking on this?

Everyone is scared, but if we keep our jobs, we'll be on board in December and again next year. We both work too hard, I scrimp and scrape during the year, so when it comes time to relax, I REALLY need it. I might not be able to do as many cruises or as long of an itinerary, but if there is any way possible at all, I'll be on board!

While there is fear alround us...I feel that we have to move forward but cautiously. What we have done the last to cruises...was to choose a repositioning cruise. They have both been around $30.00 pp per day toatl for inside. I also enjoy the planning and at the same time I have a great sense of pride that I found a bargain on what we love to do most. The economy will recover and if we are all wise about how we spend our money we can still going on enjoying life.

Not really. My personal economy isn't that bad off right now and that's what drives these types of decisions for me. I'll book a future cruise when I have the money and when the price is right.

We haven't changed our cruising plans as of yet. As long as I have the money I plan to go, go, go.

Birds have to fly, and I have to cruise.

Since the downturn of the economy and my income level, I've been doing more cruise price shopping than normal. I canceled my spring cruise plans, and opted for only a winter cruise this year. It gives me more time to pay for it. I'm still keeping my eyes open for a close to home deal in the mean time though.

Not at all. As a government employee my salary stays the same, or increases slowly, but the interest rate on our house mortage has been decreased considerably, so our economy is actually better now. It feel so good - being left out from the incorporate bonuses in good times, it's now time to sit down and relax and be happy to have a safe job.

We're doing okay for now, but we also feel a bit guilty spending money on a cruise when things are so bad for so many. On the other hand, if you can afford to take vacations like this, it's helping the people who make a living in the cruise business, right?
