Cruise Movies

I'm leaving on a cruise later this week, and have the movie, "The Poseidon Adventure" on AMC playing in the next room. Is this a bad idea?

There have been several movies made that center around a cruise ship or have cruising as a background theme, or as the main theme. Have those movies affected the way you feel about cruising?

For example, when "Titanic" came out several years ago, the surprising response was that cruise bookings soared. Movie watchers loved seeing the beauty, elegance and classiness of the ship. That's what they remembered about the movie, not the disaster itself. Folks wanted to experience the modern day ambiance of cruising.

Has anyone here booked a cruise because of old "Love Boat" reruns or similar?

Sandy we just cruised for Halloween and the night before we boarded our entire party(except ME) watched Ghost ship. They loved it and thought it was a great thing to do before boarding for a Halloween Cruise.

I guess those kind of movies are OK, if you can separate fiction from reality. I am not sure if it would be the best thing for a young child to see, just before a cruise.

I got interested in cruising from first watching the Love Boat on TV. Many, many years later, when I finally took my first cruise, I then realized there are allot of differences between a real cruise and the fantasy portrail of a cruise produced by Aaron Spelling.

I suppose one should always keep that in mind. Especially when watching potentially inappropriate movies prior to their cruise.
