I am planning to take a first time cruise during the winter break with my family (husband, son, 20 year old college student and daughter 17 high school student.) We live in the Washington DC area and would probably cruise in the Caribbean (either eastern or western.)Does anyone have any suggestions for a first time experience with older kids? Any specific ships? Locations? Things to look out for?
I would strongly suggest one of the Voyager class ships of Royal Caribbean. The ships are in a class all by themselves and offer families the best of the best. Everyone will have a great time doing their own thing and also as a family unit. These ships are built for you.
My advice would be to find a local cruise professional and have them guide you through the maze. Here are reviews of three Voyager class ships you may want to read before calling an agent.
Hi dentonade,
Welcome to cruise-chat. I wholeheartedly agree with Tom. Based on the ages of your children, RC's Voyager class ships are perfect. As for itinerary - both are great, it depends on your interests. As Tom suggests, you need to find a good cruise secialist to help you decide amongst all the options.
