Alaskan Cruise Honeymoon

Hello All,

This is my first post after scouring this site for days. My fiance and I are getting married in July and planning an Alaskan cruise honeymoon.

This will be our first ever cruise and we could use some suggestions about which line to choose.

Because of the dates of our wedding we have narrowed our choices to the Princess cruise line Coral Princess or the Holland Veendam. Both of these ships have a weekday departure which was important to us since our wedding is on a Sunday. We're not sure how to choose which ship, both seem to have a variety of things to do, similar excursions etc. The Holland trip is an inside passage cruise while the Princess one is a Gulf cruise.

We are both in our late 20's and have heard that Holland caters to the retired set. I've also heard that Alaska tends to appeal to an older cruiser in general so does it matter which boat we choose in terms of demographics since we'll likely be on the younger side either way?

Welcome to cruise chat. Most likely Princess may appeal to you more than HAL. However; as you noted you will be in the younger crowd no matter which ship. I would suggest you find a cruise oriented Travel Agency in your area and let them help you decide. I would also suggest you get this cruise booked soon.

Hi smurfarita, welcome to Cruise-Chat. Congratulations on your up-coming wedding. I agree totally with Cruise Fanatic. Alaska cruises sell out early. Both Princess and Holland America are great lines. Princess is our personal preference and the Coral Princess is gorgeous. HAL offers great service as well, though. A cruise specialist will be able to help you make the correct selection, but if you do decide to do it on your own, don't wait too long to book. Best wishes and once again, welcome aboard!
