Just to be clear - I like both Carnival and RCI and have great fun on both lines. My next two cruises are on these two lines. I think Carnival does some things better than RCI, and RCI does some things better than Carnival. Overall it is a draw, although one thing that RCI does better than any cruise line is with innovative ships. Nobody can compare to the designs RCI has come out with over the past few years. And when the Genesis ships are debuted - well, as the RCI executives say, "game over".

Now I know they wanted to get the biggest turnout they could, but isn't bingo something you schedule in the late morning or early afternoon?
I've been on several cruises on different cruise lines where Bingo is played between the main show for early and late dining. They were hoping to keep many people in the main show lounge after the show to play Bingo.

Guess what? I got curious and looked at some Carnival Capers from our cruise on the Holiday last year. Let's see...March 17, 2007: "10:00 PM - Jackpot Bingo in the Americana Lounge".

Looks like RCI isn't the only cruise line running bingo late at night!

Bingo for the cruise give away happens late. 10PM is not too late. The bingo on Carnival happens in the afternoon and before the main seating of the show. I don't consider this to be strange, its just the way they schedule it to allow more people to attend (since they only do one Bingo for a cruise)

I've been looking through more of my cruise junk and am surprised at how many bingo games are in fact held later at night - and I am talking about Carnival and RCI since they are the two lines we've used for the past few years.

I guess I never paid much attention to it since I rarely play, although in one of those "it's a small world" moments I witnessed a former co-worker win the cruise while aboard the Carnival Pride. We literally ran into each other on the first night of the cruise and had no idea the other person was going to be aboard. So for once I played in the "free cruise" bingo, and my cards are lousy, and suddenly I hear "BINGO!!!" from the balcony. I look up and it is my friend Denny. He used the trip for a southern run on the Destiny.

I should add that the reason I don't play bingo much is because I used to run the bingo nights at my VFW post for many years - and I really learned to hate the game! Totally burned out on it.
