We are going to be on the East Coast in July/Aug next year. Thinking of taking a Cruise from Miami, or anywhere on the East Coast.
Is it worth taking one that time of year... isn't it hot and in the hurricane season?

We would probably do a Carnival Cruise as we have some upgrades and credits from them.

We have done nothing on the East Coast so we are open for Cruise ideas.
Thanks

Well yes it is hot and hurricane season. But those two words describe all of the summer months, and being the TROPICS, the Caribbean is almost always hot. So unless you are planning on limiting yourself to only winter crusies or to cruises to Alaska, why worry about it? The bigger issue is that those are peek cruise season and you will be paying top dollar for cruising then. If you are able to go at other times of the year, then you would be better off.

Thanks Jim
For the East Coast we are kind of stuck with the summer months.
Any thoughts on which cruise?

Gary, if you're able to travel further up the East Coast, might I suggest a cruise to eastern Canada? Carnival Victory does a few 5-night runs to Halifax and Saint John in the summer, round trip from New York. I can speak from first-hand experience that this is a very enjoyable cruise.

Another wonderful choice is Bermuda. Carnival does not offer a Bermuda cruise in the summer, but several other lines do, from several cities along the East Coast.

Thanks Lisa that one sounds good. We are also looking at one out of Miami on the Triumph. It does Half Moon Cay, St Thomas, San Juan and Grand Turk.
Does anyone have any comments on this one?
we meet with out Ta Friday or Monday. Waiting to see what options she gives us.

gdjoslin-

Leaving from Miami, you can do any of the Caribean itineraries. Except for the southern, that one leaves from San Jaun.

The cruise you mention on the Triumph is a good one. They also have the Eastern (St Thomas, St Marteen, San Jaun or Half Moon Cay) and the Western - Jamaica, Grand Caymen, Cozumel. Any of these are good cruises. But since you have done Mexico, maybe the eastern is better for you to get the Caribbean feel. The one you mention is just fine.

If you can deal with the heat, the Hurricanes are really not a big problem. Unless they interfere with your departure, the ships will change itineraries to avoid any storms. Just don't be disappointed if they do and it still is a fun cruise.

Ok I am from Puerto Rico(San Juan)
Is not normal that hurricanes hit us during june, july and aug
Normally they start from september to november
So don't worry about them by that time they only get to a tropical storm in a worse case..

As for the hot temperatures
Buy excedrin is hot here,
I have been living here all my life and itcan be very hot sometimes
but remember thats why we are always at the beach during summer and that's why you like the caribbean no??
don't worry if you need any INFO please let me know...

You should be good to go with a July/August cruise. Unless the hurricane is hitting Miami they will go. If it is hitting one of the ports you will go elsewhere. Even is it does hit Miami they will leave as soon as it passed.

Thanks for all the help. Sounds like we will see the TA Monday as we will be out of town tomorrow.
Will be interested in seeing what she comes up with.
