Ahhh. The mention of Sitmar brings back wonderful memories of their mostly Italian crew and great food. We took our daughter on the Fairwind when she was 5 and always dressed her like a little Princess for the formal nights (her Grandma made her a gorgeous long gown). The Maitre'd was French and he immediately adopted our daughter as his own and took her into the galley on the formal nights to let the chefs see her gown. This led to a personal visit to our table from the head Italian Chef and needless to say our little girl got anything she wanted in that dining room....even when it was not on the menu. The regular food on Sitmar was far better than even the alternative restaurants on todays ships. Times do sure change.

Hank, have you cruised on Costa? No where near Sitmar class, but it is a fun cruise line. Pretty good Italian food, really fun crew.

Penny, We have been on 11 different cruise lines (more than 50 different ships) but alas, we have never gone on Costa. Why? No particular reason except their European itineraries are too short (we do not like cruises less than 10 days) and we seldom do the typical Caribbean cruises anymore. If Costa would start doing something interesting like Asia, Australia, transpacific, etc etc we would give em a try.

Ah well, there is a chance to try the Costa Allegra.... that departs from Hong Kong for a 7 or 14 day cruise depending if you want to leave when it gets to Singapore. The choice of ports seems as interesting as those on the short cruises by Star Cruises in that part of the world.

Jack, Great point! Some of those Asian itineraries do look interesting. We have cruises several times in Asia and really do love traveling in that part of the world.

December on Enchantment will be number 19 but over 28 years. The earlier cruises do not mention the ship because I'm too lazy to go through the photo albums to look up the names....ADDICTED, no cure requested, thank you.
