passports off ship

When exiting the ship for a shore excursion,should you photo copy your passport? If you became ill and had to be flown out of the country your visting should you not have at least a copy? What do others take with them? I know you need your sail & sign card and either cash or Credit Card. Is there something else suggested?

I take color photocopies of the first two pages of the passport (leaving the original in the safety deposit box on the ship), as well as the name and contact information of the port agent. You can find the port agent information on either the ship's daily program or the port guide given out on board. If there is an emergency, the port agent will assist you, and will also be in contact with the ship.

We just carry our sail & sign & drivers liscense for pitcure ID, & of course cash and CC's. Luckily we've not had a need to carry our passports while not onboard. However, you would be smart to make several copies of the first page of your passport and keep it in several different places in case you loose the passport itself.
