Can anyone recommend a cruise insurance company? It's now too late to get it through our travel agent as we have already made our final payment (she told me this had to be done before final payment). We are going on a November cruise. Thanks!

A good place to compare policies is

Dale88fan, your travel agent is wrong. You can still get insurance, but it won't cover any pre-existing conditions. Tell your agent to do her homework.

Sonny, in all fairness, it's possible that it IS too late for dale88fan to get insurance through the travel agent. If the agent doesn't have a license to sell through an independent insurance company, then the agent is restricted to just selling the cruise line's insurance, which one must buy with either deposit or final payment, depending on the cruise line.

Perhaps what the agent could have done is told dale88 that s/he can no longer sell them insurance, but they can get insurance on their own through an outside carrier.

Our travel agent is with Liberty Travel, does that make a difference? Thanks!

Oh and were going on a Royal Caribbean (Freedom of the Seas) cruise November 19th.

Dale, if you're still interested in buying insurance, just ask your travel agent if s/he can help you buy it from a company such as Travel Guard. If not, you can just get it on your own. If you call a company, they'll be happy to give you the rate, what's covered, what isn't covered, etc.

While discussing the same topic on the Carnival board, Cruise Fanatic recomended reading Tom Ogg's article. It is on our sister site is on the left when you scroll down. I found it informative, and he gives some recomendations.
