Doesn't sound like a good idea if everyone started doing it. It could be an issue with personal chairs taking up more of the walking space on deck. Liability etc.
Hey, wait a minute. You guys are missing an important point. What if you could bring your beach chair onto the airplane in lieu of using one of their seats? I think the airlines should have a "bring your own chair" airfare, especially on flights to Europe. My beach chair is a thousand times more comfortable than an airline seat.
Wouldn't the chair also have to fit through the x-ray machines - both at the airport and at the pier? Unless you checked it?
As Cruise Fanatic notes, the liability issue would probably loom large.
And then there is the chance that you'd leave your personal chair for a dip in the pool, only to return and find someone sitting in it! You know it would happen.
Sonny, No, actually, I think it could still work. Of course the airlines would have to have a master connection to the power grid so that the beach chair could also tap into the video/audio system, but I am sure that is a minor issue. All that would be necessary would be a beach chair that could be reduced to x-ray machine size, a regulation seat belt and a hole to plug your headset into. Well, it might also need a fold-out table for the snacks and drinks (such as they are)…. And of course, a life jacket (just in case)
