Welcome to cruise chat. Do you have a cell phone? If so, talk to your provider about services for International. You can also rent cell phones for this purpose. I wouldn't call from the ship at all. If you use the international phone cards use them from a pay phone at the ports. That is when the crew make all their calls. Some ports have phone centers set up close the piers.

While on the ship you could email home.

My problem is that my daughter will be in school while we are on land. http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...icon_frown.gif I was hoping that I could use the card from my room??? I dont want any hidden cost by the ship though. To email home it will cost me 56.00 http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...n_confused.gif

I am with tmobile and they don't accept any international cards or any calling cards from their cell phones at all.

It's not a phone call, but you can email. Then use a phone card, or cell phone when you are in port.

Phone calls from ship can add up to more than $56.00 in a hurry.

BTW Welcome aboard.

Well according to Princess' website, 10 minutes of ship to shore calls is $49.50. It is NOT cheap. We were able to get 100 minutes of internet access for about $50 (on Carnival), I would suggest using that instead. Many of the cruise ships offer cellular service now which is typically charged at your providers international roaming rate. But I couldn't find anything on the website that said the Princess ships offer that service yet.
