Dolphin swim in Mex? Is it worth it?

We're taking our 5 year old daughter on a cruise to Mexico. I wanted to do the dolphin experience/swim but for the cost is it worth it? Would it be just better to go to Sea World? Please give me your take/experience. Thank you

Upon seeing those who opted for the dolphin experience at Xcaret in Mexico, I can tell you, it is NOT Sea World. The surroundings are very natural and the experience (although my husband and I couldn't afford it) looked AWESOME. It's definately one of those things that if your daughter is majorly "into" dolphins, she will LOVE. If you are talking about Xcaret for your dolphin experience, the park is HUGE. Way too much to see/do in a day (2 days even), so I can imagine that the dolphin experience will suck up much of your port time and you will miss out on many of the other exhibits the park has to offer.

If it were me, I know if I didn't book the dolphin thing, and my kids SAW that they could have had that experience...they might feel like they really missed out.

Thank you so much for your input. I am leaning to giving her the experience. I think a natural experience would be an event she would remember. Well at least the dvd would help her remember. anyone else done this? thanks

How do we arrange for only one out of 4 of us doing this excusion. My sons girlfriend really wants to swim with the dolphins on our cruise in April. No one else wants to but we don't want her to go alone.

If you book the excursion through the cruise line you should have no concerns about her going alone.

Keep in mind, as long as dolphins are in the vicinity, you need not worry about a shark attack.

I think it was well worth the cost. I only did the encounter but I am planning on the swim next time.
