we are looking to travel to alaska in July of 2007- looking for ships that have good children programs (kids are 3,8,10)and a family friendly ship. we are traveling with my parents- but i think they'd rather just sit and take in the views than do activities. In doing my research- I have come across NCL and RC as two good possiblites- any advice on either one- or any other choices? Leaving from Seattle and want R/T alaska cruise!

Thanks

Royal Caribbean can't be beat for a multi-generational family cruise. Just my opinion.

hello,

As Tom is one of the very best advisors in the cruise industry, I agree that RCCl is an excellent choice for an Alaskan cruise for your family.

Some additional ideas...a RT cruise from Seattle might be a little easier on the kids and your parents, that is, not having to go through customs and the airfare/driving might be less hassle.

Consider renting a car in Juneau and Skagway as this should give you more flexibility and cost savings over tours.

Re the kids...get them involved with the planning of the cruise and make sure that they know it is an adventure and not just another vacation.

Hope that you have a great cruise.

Tom is spot on here. Trying to please 2 generations is tough, but RCCL has both covered well. NCL has great kids crew programs too, so if cost is a factor, you can consider them as well. Don't do a Princess cruise or a Holland America as the childern will be less than thrilled, they are more geared toward older cruisers.

I have no kids, but have been on 2 HAL cruises and they seemed to keep the kids busy with different things, Club Hal is a great program. I talked with some parents who had their kids in there and at one of the shows, the kids all sang a song too. It was very awesome to see the kids get involved in the show.
