We had a school shooting in 1992 in Marysville, California as well, 3 students and a teacher killed, over 200 people held hostage. It was a sad day then and my prayers go out to VT as they face this situation. God Bless those innocent victims and their families.
It has been unbelievable and saddening no matter where this would have happened. But being born and raised in Virginia this has struck a personal note about it happening there. My Prayers and thoughts are going up as well for all of them.
As a parent, I cannot even imagine the heartache these families are going through and the sheer torture that their child had to endure in their final moments. It is just the unthinkable. My heart goes out to the innocent faculty members, as well. There needs to be immediate changes made to keeping school campuses safe in this country. We are not only losing our brightest, we are losing our future. It is very unsettling knowing that I am sending my eldest off to college in the fall. I will be asking some tough questions at orientation. God Bless Virginia Tech.
to say the least, I was shocked when I heard about this massacre on TV and I am deeply saddened by the loss of 32 innocent lives.
What saddens me as well, however, is that in recent months, dozens of innocent lives have been claimed by violence and terror in countries such as Sudan, Iraq and others every single day. In our western civilization, we have almost accepted the daily news coverage about this as "everyday life", but for those directly affected by it, it is as horrible as it is for those affected by the Virginia Tech massacre.
I am waiting patiently for the inevitable comment that this is not cruise related blah, blah, blah.
I don't know who to send the suggestion to....BUT PLEASE....can someone make a section entitled GENERAL CHAT, Misc BS, Shootin the Breeze, Stuff No One Cares About....JUST SOMETHING so those of us that wish to express sympathy for tragedys like this weeks, or just want to get to know each other better - we would have a place to post. Someplace to talk about our everyday lives, our thoughts and concerns.
Just an idea. I can't always think of a way to tie the cruise into my conversation...but still would like to say hey to the few friends I have met here!
My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the recent tragedy and I hope they find comfort in the arms of family and friends!
