Well I don't want to put aside Dave glory moment



At the moment Puerto Rico is on a very bad economical situation, our goverment had laid off 27000 people from their work.
I had been affected in someway but not directly, at the moment, but we are looking to a posibility everyday. I have friends who had been laid off even my sister had been affected.

There had been manifestations in the island and the people are talking about a big island strike.
About 85% of the island people work for the goverment so this is going to be very difficult time for us, even the private sector is saying they cannot deal with the situation and that this situation will affect them directly.

You can be sure that you will not be affected on your cruise, our tourist departement is not affected and Puerto Rico will not let this affect the tourist industry in anyway, but if you come and visit us during the next few weeks you will see major manifestations in the island.

This is a situation that no one in the island was prepared to deal with so we are doing what we can.

I had read about this and was very concerned. The world economy is horrible. I read a report yesterday that they were even blaming Davie Bowie. It began with greed from those much higher up than we'll ever be, now it's trickled down to outrageous unemployment. If people aren't working, they aren't paying taxes. If they aren't paying taxes, governments and their subsidiaries including education cannot operate. It's a viscious cycle and we're all praying that things will turn around. We truly need a miracle to happen, and will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Cas, it has been a very tough and scary year for so many people. I hope your job is secure, and your sister gets a new job soon.

Cas, I sure hope you don't lose your job. Especially with having a new addition to your family. It has been a rough situation for a lot of people the last 18-24 months. I had a pretty strong hunch this was the situation. I have former employees/friends on the island that still stay in touch with me from when I was a restaurant manager. I've had a couple of e-mails asking for work recently and saying how bad it was there with jobs.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and all of us going through this.

I heard on the "Today" show this morning that 7 MILLION jobs have been lost in the States (I don't know if they were including Puerto Rico) in the last year or so. They were talking about the fact that the thousands of jobs lost last month was a lower number than previous months.

My thoughts are with everyone affected.
