My husband and I will be celebrating our 40th Anniversary on February 19, 2006 and would like to take a ,minimum 7 max 15 day, cruise leaving from Southern California to some warm climate. We are a very young, active, party couple who like to experience a wide verity of activities.
Can you suggest a cruise what would be during our anniversary? Thank you
Your choices are going to be either Hawaii or Mexico and anytime you get a cruise longer than 7-days (especially in January) you are going to get an older crowd. One cruise I would highly recommend is Celebrity's Mercury doing the 11 or 12 day itinerary down to Acapulco and back. There will be some younger people on it, but expect an older crowd for the most part on anything you choose other than Carnival's or Royal Caribbean's 3, 4 and 7-day Baja and Mexican Riviera cruises....even then?
I suggest that you look at a Hawaii sailing from LA or San Diego, and I agree with Tom that a cruise on the Mercury to Mexico would be very enjoyable (My wife and I did an 11 day cruise on the Mercury to Mexico last December and thoroughly enjoyed the cruise.
Congrats on planning a celebration for your 40th. I have to agree with the previous posters -The 11 night sailing on the Mercury out of San Diego on Feb. 13 would be perfect. It offers a great itinerary AND, not only will you be cruising for your anniversary but it encompasses Valentine's Day.

An addenda here...another nice aspect of a Celebrity/Mercury cruise is that they use San Diego as the port of departure. San Diego is a great port because it is very close to the airport, lots of reasonably priced parking (and close to car rentals) lots of restaurants and reasonably priced hotels with shuttles to and from the port.
