I have encouraged many to visit and use this site because it is not only fun, but a wealth of information. One person I referred asked me if I am sure they were looking at the right cruise because the site shows the Fantasy sailing from Port Canaveral. I really never paid attention to it, but in the Carnival section many ships are listed incorrectly, with the Holiday still sailing from New Orleans and Carnival Freedom not even listed. It is also odd that there are no cruise reviews posted from 2008, that I could find. I sent one in back in March and its not up either.
Perhaps we could make a group effort to update each ship (dividing up lines) to make sure current information is posted? I would be glad to assist also when I get back from a trip next week.
Within these message boards are precise, up-to-the-minute details that many may not take the time to discover when they see main pages are out of date. I know that keeping all of the information updated is simply too much for one person to do in their spare, uncompensated time so please advise if I can help in any way!

I guess you mean the cruisereviews.com portion of the website.
It has not been updated for a while now, and this is because a new design for the cruise reviews will be coming out within the next month or so. Hence no new reviews being posted for a while. Actually, none of us on the staff of the forum have access to the reviews area. We can't do anything there - it is completely controlled by the Internet Brands employees.
Anyway, soon it will be much easier to post reviews and do some other things. They are in the final stages of checking out the new stuff.
I do want to clean it up though and get things current as far as the ports used by ships, etc. I'll contact IB and see what we can do.
I do know the owners of the site are trying to revamp the review section, especially to make it easier to submit a review. Lisa (one of the administrators) has revamped the Roll Call Section and updates it periodically. We do try to keep things current, but sometimes someone will dig up an old post and bring it back to life. Dave and Lisa have shorten the expiration date of dormant posts. Please email us some ideas you have on keeping things up to date. You can PM me any time. Have a great trip and weekend!
Glad to know it is already being addressed! Penny, no great ideas other than updating information on each ship that we know is incorrect with correct information. The message board is great just like it is, thanks to all of you!
Funny you mention this, because it has always bugged me that the Carnival Miracle is incorrectly listed as "CarnivalMiracle" in the reviews section. Yeah, very minor detail, but hard to ignore, and easily fixed.
Good post tncruiseman, you raise a very important issue.I believe that cruise reviews and cruise-chat all come under the same umbrella, and I am well aware that Dave, Lisa and the other moderators have nothing to do with the reviews section.
It is (in my opinion ) absolutely appalling the way Internet Brands seemto have let the Cruise Reviews section deteriate. To give you just an example...if you look at the Princess Reviews you will see no mention of the Emerald Princess which has been cruising for a year now.I could go on with lots more examples....but I think those who have visited the site will be all too aware of what I am on about.
It seems like the site has been abandoned because they couldn't find someone to update it, ( again my opinion )
I have read the comments by Dave & Penny about revamping and redesign of the site.....but in a month ??? Come on....Why wait until the site is revamped For heavens sake how long does it take to google up a list of new ships and insert them.....Three hours at most.....You can add the actual information about the ship later, inclusion of the ships name is more important. This should have been sorted out last year.
What were you doing Ryan ??? sitting around attending meetings, drinking cups of coffee and congratulating yourself when JUST 1/2 HOUR A WEEK WOULD HAVE MADE A DRAMATIC IMPROVEMENT to Cruse Reviews.
( note to Dave & Lisa, if this seems like a personal attack on Ryan....Its not...Its just my way of injecting some passion into this post so Ryan grasps that this is an important issue and I don't think he will object to the way its worded....he may even reply )
Internet Brands are well aware that this forum runs well due the assistance of Dave, Lisa and the other mods including the major contribution from Raoul(all unpaid )Why on earth don't they ask for a bit of assistance from people who care ? Specialists like Sonny (RCI) & f mattox (princess )Rauol (Aida etc) who would keep them informed of new ships ....ships sold etc. It relly doesn't take that long to add a new ship onto a cruise review site.
tncruiseman definately has the great idea in offering to assist but really this should have been been thought of by Internet Brands who seemed to ignore their site so that possible new reviewers posted their reviews elsewhere or didn't bother.
I am pleased that Internet Brands are doing the right thing at last (if Dave & Penny are right)by completely updating Cruise Reviews. Next they need to find a couple of keen volunteers to monitor the site on a regular basis when ready. So whilst I have been critical of the way Internet Brands have run the site since they took it over I am ready to praise & compliment them if they manage to make a good job of updating Cruise Reviews.....and I think they will make a good job of it despite the length of time is is taking.
Wow, pretty tough review of your own there Jack. I guess I never noticed the shortcomings of the Review side here. I never go there, I like the interaction of the chat side so much better than a review where the conclusions and accusations can't be challenged. I've always been skeptical of reviews unless I know the reviewer. You get so many complainers with petty gripes, I'd rather not go to the trouble of de-coding whether its someone with a real beef or just another whiner. I'll stick to this portion of the site, even if they do revamp the reviews section and make it all sparkly and new with updated content.
I appreciate your comments. A couple things to note - Ryan doesn't live here anymore, and IB made the decision to not update the cruise reviews area pending the updates. Part of the problem has been a constant turnover of people by the forum owner (IB). We now have a very proactive (and pleasant!) forum manager from IB and things are looking better.
It might be a bad idea to not have those of us who run the place on a day-to-day basis involved in the reviews area. We certainly would have kept it current. But I imagine it is also a bad idea to allow non-employees access to the website settings and coding since this could cause havoc.
I must admit that I don't go to the cruise reviews area that often, but after tncruiseman's message I spent some time there. I am ashamed at how it has foundered and will do all I can to get it back in shape.
